Grand Chapter
The Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Canada in the Province of Ontario warrants all Royal Arch Chapters in the Province. Mount Sinai Chapter is one of over 100 Chapters under it's jurisdiction. General Information The Grand Chapter office is located at: 361 King Street West, Second Floor The Grand Chapter office is on the second floor of the Grand Lodge Memorial Building. Click here for an online tour of the building. The office is next to the Grand Lodge Library. The Grand Chapter Web Site is a valuable source of information on Capitular Masonry in Ontario. Among the useful links you will on the Grand Chapter site are: Officers Please visit our Photo Gallery for a picture of eight of the ten living Past Grand First Principals who have ruled Capitular Masonry in this province. This was taken at the 148th Annual Convocation of Grand Chapter, on April 8, 2006. Missing from the photo are only M.Ex.Comp. Charles W. Emmett, and the newest P.G.F.P., M.Ex.Comp. Richard J. Jackson. Back to Top Grand Chapter has two registered charities, the "Release-a-Miracle" Medical Research Fund, and the Scholarship and Bursary Fund. Each of these is worthy of your support. As part of the 150th Anniversary, a push is on to bring The Medical Research Fund fund up to $1,000,000.00. The intereste generated by the fund is given out as grants to support medical research. The Fund has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars since inception to support research in a number of areas. The Scholarship and Bursary Fund gives bursaries to qualified relatives of Companions, to assist them with their post secondary school education. Back to Top 150th Anniversary of Grand Chapter This year, Grand Chapter is celebrating 150 Years in Ontario. There will be special events planned throughout the jurisdiction to mark the occasion. The celebrations will culminate with the 150th Annual Convocation of Grand Chapter, to be held in St. Catharines, April 2 to 5, 2008. Back to Top The Annual Convocation of Grand Chapter is the annual meeting, to receive the report on the state of our Capitular Craft in Ontario from the Grand First Principal, reports of the various committees that administer the affairs of Grand Chapter, and elect the officers for the ensuing year. For the next four years, it takes place at the Quality Hotel Parkway Convention Centre, St. Catharines. Click on this Link for a scrollable map of the location. The dates of the next Annual Convocations are [Thursday to Saturday]: April 3 - 5, 2008 Information on the program for the 2008 Convocation follows: GRAND CHAPTER General Chairman: R.Ex.Comp. The events include both conducting the annual affairs of Grand Chapter, and social opportunities for Companions and their ladies. Thursday: 7:00 p.m. - Meet and Greet the Grand Council, Grand Chapter Officers, visiting dignataries from other Grand Chapters, and many others. Hosted by M.Ex.Comp. George H. Gifford and his lady Carol - $15.00 Friday: 8:15 a.m. - Special 150th Anniversary ceremony. Ladies and friends are welcome to attend. 9:00 a.m. - Grand Chapter opens 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Ladies Program and Luncheon, hosted by Carol Gifford - $20.00 5:30 p.m. - Social Hour, prior to 6:00 p.m. - Grand First Principal’s Banquet and special 150th Anniversary program - $50.00. Whiston, Grand Chaplain. Ladies and friends are invited, as well. 9:00 a.m. - Grand Chapter called on. The Installation of the newly elected Grand First Principal, Grand Second Principal, Grand Third Principal, confirmed Grand Superintendents and Investiture of the newly elected Officers takes place prior to closing Grand Chapter. 9:00 to Noon – Ladies Hospitality Centre available, no cost. Registration - Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Voting - Friday from 1/2 hour after the recess of Grand Chapter (but not later than 4:00 p.m.) to 5:00 p.m. All Past Principals and the Ruling Principals are eligible to vote. Hotel Rooms are $100.99 for double occupancy. Add $10.00 per room for three or four occupying the room.
